Kitchen Remodeling in New Braunfels, TX

A kitchen remodel is the most disruptive room in the house to renovate and the one where sequencing matters most. Cabinets cannot be set until the floor is flat and the walls are true, stone cannot be templated until the cabinets are in, and the appliance cut-outs have to be right the first time.

What is included

What a Kitchen Remodeling Project Covers

Layout and design

Working through what the room can actually do, including whether a wall is load bearing and what it costs to move it.

Cabinetry

Stock, semi-custom or fully custom, specified against a written allowance so you can see the cost difference between options.

Countertops

Templating and installation of granite, quartz or quartzite, coordinated so the stone fabricator measures the cabinets as built rather than as drawn.

Plumbing and electrical

Sink and appliance relocations, dedicated circuits for modern appliance loads, and bringing older wiring up to current code where the work exposes it.

Flooring, tile and finishes

Floor, backsplash, paint, trim and the transitions between the kitchen and adjoining rooms.

Signs it is time

When This Work Is Worth Doing

  • The layout fights you: no landing space beside the range or the refrigerator door blocks the walkway
  • Cabinet boxes are sound but the doors, drawer boxes and hardware are worn out
  • Countertop seams, chips or dated laminate that no amount of cleaning fixes
  • Not enough circuits, so the microwave and the toaster trip the same breaker
  • Water damage under the sink that has been quietly working on the cabinet base

How it runs

The Process

  1. 01

    Walk the space

Measure, check what is structural, look at the panel, and find out where the plumbing actually runs.

  2. 02

    Written scope and allowances

An itemised estimate with allowances stated for cabinetry, stone, tile, fixtures and appliances.

  3. 03

    Selections and ordering

Long-lead items ordered before demolition so the site is not idle waiting for cabinets.

  4. 04

    Demolition and rough-in

Strip out, then framing changes, plumbing, electrical and inspection.

  5. 05

    Install and finish

Cabinets, stone template and set, tile, paint, trim, appliances, then a punch list you sign off.

Options

Ways to Approach It

Keep the layout

Cheapest and fastest. New cabinets, stone and finishes in the existing footprint, with no plumbing or gas relocation.

Modify the layout

Moving the sink or range, or taking out a non-structural wall. Adds plumbing and electrical work but usually delivers the biggest improvement in how the room works.

Structural change

Removing a load-bearing wall to open the kitchen to living space. Requires a beam, engineering, and permitting, and it is the option most often quoted casually by people who have not priced the beam.

Local context

Kitchen Remodeling in New Braunfels

New Braunfels kitchens fall into two broad groups. Homes built during the growth years since 2000 usually have a serviceable layout and builder-grade finishes, so the work is mostly cabinetry, stone and lighting with little structural change. Older properties closer to downtown and the rivers are the opposite: the finishes may be sound but the kitchen is a closed room with undersized wiring and cast iron drains, and the real project is opening it up and replacing what is behind the wall. Most homes here are slab-on-grade, which is the single biggest factor in what a plumbing move costs, because relocating a drain means cutting and repouring concrete.

What moves the price

Pricing Factors

  • Whether plumbing and gas move, which drives slab work on slab-on-grade homes
  • Cabinetry level: stock, semi-custom or custom, and the door style
  • Countertop material and how many seams the layout forces
  • Whether the electrical panel has capacity for added circuits
  • Condition of the subfloor once the old flooring is up

Every estimate is itemised, with allowances written out so you can see which figures are fixed and which depend on selections.

Why Norton

Why New Braunfels Homeowners Choose Norton

The scope is written down before work starts

Most remodeling disputes come from a vague scope, not from bad craftsmanship. Every project begins with an itemised written estimate covering what is included, what is excluded, which materials are allowed for, and what happens if something unexpected appears behind a wall. You approve it before demolition, and changes are priced in writing as they arise.

One team, one point of contact

You are not passed between a salesperson, a coordinator, and three separate trades who each blame the last. The same people who quote the work run the work, which means the person answering your questions has actually been inside your house and knows what is behind the drywall.

Built for Hill Country homes

Comal County construction has specifics: expansive clay soils that move with the wet and dry cycle, slab-on-grade foundations that complicate plumbing reroutes, older homes near the river with additions that were never permitted, and newer builds where the original finish carpentry was rushed. Knowing which you are dealing with changes the plan.

Questions

Questions About Kitchen Remodeling

Can you open my kitchen to the living room?

Often yes, but whether the wall is load bearing changes the project completely. If it is, the work needs a properly sized beam, and on a slab home the beam has to land somewhere that can carry it. We establish this during the walk-through, not after demolition.

How long will I be without a kitchen?

Plan on five to nine weeks on site for a full remodel. Most of that is cabinet lead time and the gap between cabinet install and stone template, which is typically one to two weeks.

Do you supply the cabinets or do I?

Either. Most clients use our supply because it keeps responsibility for fit and finish in one place. If you buy your own, the estimate reflects that and any fit issues with the supplied product are yours.

Is quartz better than granite here?

Neither is better outright. Quartz is more consistent and needs no sealing. Granite and quartzite handle heat better and each slab is unique. If your kitchen gets hard daily use, the practical difference is mostly maintenance, not durability.
